The presentation and interpretation of the indicators included in Biodiversity.fi are checked and discussed by habitat-specific expert groups.

The groups consist of 6-12 members representing a wide range of government research institutes, universities and ministries. All the partners that produce information for any given indicator are automatically included in the relevant expert group. On top of these, the groups contain general experts of the whole habitat as well as experts on the policies affecting the habitat.

The task of the expert groups is to:

1. Evaluate the indicator set as a whole:
- is something missing, is there something too much? Do the indicators give a balanced overall view of the habitat?

2. Comment on the interpretation
- are the interpretations of individual indicators sound and are they based on the latest and most relevant research results?

3. Check presentation and data
- have the indicators been presented in an unbiased and easy-to-understand way? Are all the data correct?
