57) Promote the management of landscape and biodiversity in connection with active agriculture, by enhancing advisory services, education, training and research and cooperation between various actors. Support the preparation of general plans for wetlands, buffer zones and biodiversity.

Status in 2018: The Rural Development Programme for Mainland Finland 2014–2020 includes several actions for advising, education and collaboration between involved actors. One of these is the action Advice 2020, which emphasises the advising of biodiversity. The Rural Development Programme funds projects promoting education and communication, along with project aimed at improving the state of the environment. The funded projects are selected according to a predefined assessment scheme. 

Local projects funded by the Leader Programme of the Rural Development Programme often enhance the collaboration between rural inhabitants in environmental issues. The Fund for Agricultural Development supports also research on the biodiversity of agricultural habitats. Subsidies allocated to the preparation of action plans for wetlands, protection zones, and biodiversity have not been available since 2015.
