Monitoring group

A broad-based monitoring group was founded in 2007 to support the implementation of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP). In addition to the ten ministries involved, the group consist of governmental research and other organisations, business organisations, NGO's and other stakeholders. The monitoring group oversees the drafting the National Reports to the Convention on Biological Diversity, which focus on evaluating the status and trends of biodiversity as well as the effectiveness of the actions implemented. Besides this, the monitoring group enhances the maintreaming of biodiversity and develops the NBSAP further.

Seven expert groups have been established to support the monitoring group:

  • Expert group on international affars
  • Expert group on Article 8j (traditional knowledge of indigenous people) 
  • Communication group
  • Planning group on ecosystem services and biodiversity
  • Expert group on resource mobilisation
  • Expert group on habitats and restoration
  • Expert group on endangered species
