Structure
Structure indicators define the biophysical prerequisites that ecosystems need to be able to function and provide ecosystem services. Structure indicators are many times described as the area of the suitable habitat that participates to ecosystem service provisioning. The indicator can also describe the number organisms or specific species assemblage that enable ecosystem functioning. For cultural services, structure indicators indicate the preferred qualities of the environment for different cultural purposes. Accessibility is one important quality factor. |
