Value of air quality
HEALTH VALUE The most significant value of air quality are the avoided health problems. Air pollution has a large variety of negative health impacts that are presented in the benefit indicator. ECONOMIC VALUE The econimic value of air quality consists mainly of avoided health costs, including the costs of health care and the indirect costs of sick leaves in workplaces. Air pollution also deteriorates building materials, statues and other human-made constructions. Renovation expenses may be high. SOCIAL VALUE Not identified. INTRINSIC VALUE Intrinsic value of air quality can be considered to arise from the possibility to rely on the safety of one’s immediate surroundings.
