BS3 Harmful substances

PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) and DDT are Persistant Organic Pollutants (POPs). Production of PCB, its import, use or sale was totally forbidden in Finland in 1990. The use of DDT has been prohibited in Finland since 1976.

Gulf of Finland & Åland Islands include here sampling points in Hanko, Kotka and Åland. Gulf of Bothnia is reperesented by Pori and Kalajoki. The values are annual means.
