FA16 Organic farming

Organic farming means controlled plant cultivation and animal husbandry with agreed production practises. For example, maintenance of nutrient balance on organically cultivated fields is based on crop rotation including perennial pulses (a.k.a legumes) and fertilization with organic matter coming from the production unit. The use of herbicides and pesticides is either prohibited or very restricted. Organic farming is controlled by Finnish Food Safety Authority (Evira) in Finland.
